A Trial Flight is less expensive than you may think, and, it will give you a very good impression of what it is all about. Give us a call to arrange a Trial Flight.
Trial Flight Vouchers are also available. They are great gifts for your family or friends, or for that person in your life that thinks it has everything already!

As the Whangarei Flying Club operates on a non-profit basis, rates are only based on the true cost of flying and maintaining our fleet, this means no extra cost like instructor cost. As a matter of fact we can offer you flying lessons for only $115 per hour (plus $10 per session).

The Whangarei Flying Club brings together individuals, new students as well as seasoned pilots, who wish to experience the joy of flying while continuing to learn and advance their flying skills and proficiency. We provide readily available, affordable, safe and efficient aircraft for our members' use.

All aircraft are fully equipped with communication and navigation equipment. The club puts a priority on maintenance and all "squawks" (reported problems) are addressed immediately by the volunteer maintenance coordinators for each aircraft.
The club allows you to take the aircraft away for overnights, summer weekends and longer trips. We have a few restrictions in order to ensure fairness.
Available Aircraft
The following aircraft are available for hire to our members:
• ZK_WTF (a Tecnam P92 Eaglet) - our trainer mainstay of our club: $115/hr.
• ZK-LPA (an ALPI Pioneer XL200 Sparrow) - for the more advanced pilot: $115/hr.
If applicable, a $10.00 instructor fee applies (per flight).
Prices include fuel, GST and landing fee at Whangarei. Aircraft fees are charged as wet tach hour. The term "wet" means that fuel and oil are included (you'll get reimbursed if you have to fill up off-field).
Airport
We are located at Hangar 10, Onerahi Airport, Whangarei. That is where we keep the aircraft and where we have our club facilities.
